PTA NEWS.....
Welcome Back from the President!
I am so excited to welcome you a,ll back to a new and exciting year at Forest Ridge! For my husband, Tom, and I the new year brings the thrill of watching our oldest daughter’s milestone of entering middle school and our youngest daughter entering 2nd grade. As your PTA president, I want to tell you we have so many fun-filled activities planned for this year. I am sure there is something for everyone! One of our goals for this year is to increase PTA membership and parent involvement. All of the great activities need parent support to make them a success. Most importantly, we want to support our students and our amazing teachers and staff. FRES is blessed with a warm, friendly and dedicated staff. I strongly encourage you to attend one of our PTA meetings to find out more about what we do and ways you can help. There are ways for EVERYONE to help. I look forward to meeting and working with you all for the benefit of our school. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas about improving our school, please contact me at
president@frespta.org. Myself and any of the board members are willing to hear your comments. This is OUR school and OUR PTA! ~ Jennifer Renkevens, FRES PTA President
Some Upcoming PTA events we are excited to share!
Membership
Please join the PTA during our annual membership drive to ensure we can continue the programs, activities and events we have planned. This year’s membership drive runs through October. Members will be entered in a drawing for a free gift, and classes with the most PTA memberships will earn a special prize. The class with the most memberships by September 16 will receive a pencil and a homework pass. The class with the most memberships by 9/23 will receive extra recess. Forms went home yesterday in the PTA Welcome back packet or you can stop by our table at Back to School nights or you can do it on our website at frespta.org.
Tuesday, September 6, meeting in the Cafeteria at 7:00. Child care will be provided. Come meet the board and all the chair heads and learn what the PTA does for the children and staff of FRES.
Also on the 6th, we Kickoff our first Fundraiser of the year- Kidstuff Books. Kidstuff is a coupon book jam packed with valuable coupons that can be used all over Maryland. Keep the book in your car for that trip to Weis or Dick's Sporting Goods or plan a family outing to Port Discovery, The Maryland Zoo or the MD Science Center, just name a few. Each book costs $25 but you can get that amount back after just a few uses. They also make great gifts and can you are able to begin using them right away!! For every book sold, FRES PTA makes $12.50. That will go along way to fund the many programs that we provide for our school.
